		Further Development of the Political Appointment System

The Government issued the Report on Further Development of the Political Appointment System in October 2007 to set out the way forward on the creation of two additional layers of political appointment positions, namely Under Secretaries and Political Assistants. The Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved on 14 December 2007 the creation of 24 positions at these two layers with effect from 1 April 2008.
