HKSAR Government responds to independent commission's report on remuneration package for CE
|
Regarding the report submitted to the Acting Chief Executive today (June 9) by the Independent Commission on the Remuneration Package and Post-Office Arrangements for the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, a Government spokesman said, "The independent commission has struck a fine balance between different views in addressing these important issues. The Government is very grateful to the independent commission for the hard work and the professionalism it has displayed in the process.
"Despite having to work under a very tight schedule, the independent commission met with the Legislative Council (LegCo) members and attended a radio phone-in programme to canvass public views, as part of its efforts to obtain a wide range of opinions in undertaking the review exercise.
"The independent commission has set out in its report a package of comprehensive and practical recommendations, with due regard to the full spectrum of views received in its consultation process.
"The Administration will study these recommendations carefully. We will brief the LegCo Panel on Constitutional Affairs about the Government's position after consulting the Executive Council," he said.
