Appointment to Electoral Affairs Commission

The Chief Executive has appointed Professor Andrew Chan Chi Fai, JP a member of the Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) for a term of four years with effect from Thursday (September 29) to September 28, 2009. The appointment was gazetted today (September 23).
"We are pleased that Professor Andrew Chan has accepted the appointment to serve on the EAC. Professor Chan is the Director of the EMBA Programme and a Professor in the Department of Marketing at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His knowledge and experience in the management field will be of great help to the commission in accomplishing its future tasks," a Government spokesman said.
"We would also like to thank the outgoing member, Dr Elizabeth Shing, for her valuable contributions during her many years of service," the spokesman added.
The EAC is established under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance. Its responsibilities include making recommendations on geographical constituency boundaries, and conducting and supervising elections. It also supervises the registration of electors and makes arrangements to ensure that the elections are conducted openly, fairly and honestly.
