The Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) Report on the 2007 Chief Executive Election is published today (July 6).
The report describes how the EAC conducted and supervised the 2007 Chief Executive election and the preceding 2006 Election Committee subsector elections. It also sets out the commission's review of the various electoral arrangements.
"We would like to thank the EAC for compiling the report, and the efforts the commission has put in to ensure that the elections continued to be conducted in a fair, open and honest manner," a government spokesman said.
The EAC report was submitted to the Chief Executive on June 22 in accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance. In line with past practice and the principle of open and transparent elections, the Government agreed with the EAC's recommendation to make public the report.
Copies of the report are available for collection at District Offices. The report can also be downloaded from the website of EAC (www.eac.gov.hk).
