The Government has released its report on the follow-up to the Concluding Observations of the United Nations Human Rights Committee on the Second Report of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in the light of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
A Government spokesman said, "The follow-up report was submitted in response to the Committee's request made after its consideration of the HKSAR's report in March 2006. We have provided information to address the issues raised by the Committee."
Under Article 39 of the Basic Law, the provisions of the ICCPR as applied to Hong Kong shall remain in force and shall be implemented through the laws of the HKSAR.
