The Chairman of the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Cooperation and Promotion Council (ECCPC), Mr Charles Lee, begins a three-day visit to Taipei today (October 27) to promote exchanges and co-operation between Hong Kong and Taiwan.
At the invitation of the Chairman of the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation Council (THEC), Mr Lin Chen-kuo, Mr Lee is leading a delegation to Taipei from October 27 to 29, and will visit the exhibitions of the "2011 International Design Alliance Congress" being held in Taipei to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan's cultural and creative industries.
During the visit, Mr Lee will also meet with representatives from the economic and trade sector and the cultural and creative industries sector, as well as the Taiwanese authorities responsible for these areas, with a view to exploring the further strengthening of economic and trade ties between Hong Kong and Taiwan, and stepping up cultural exchanges and co-operation between the two places.
Mr Lee will return to Hong Kong on October 29.
In April last year, Hong Kong and Taiwan established the ECCPC and the THEC respectively to serve as as a direct communication platform for the two places. Since their inception, two joint meetings have been held. Consensus has been reached in jointly taking forward a number of priority co-operation areas, including fostering closer economic co-operation and deepening co-operation on creative industries.
