The Chairman of the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council (ECCPC), Mr Charles Lee, will conduct a two-day visit to Taipei next Monday (August 19) to promote exchanges and co-operation between Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Mr Lee will arrive in Taipei in the afternoon of August 19 and meet the Chairman of the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation Council (THEC), Mr Liu Te-shun, to review the progress of various co-operation areas between Hong Kong and Taiwan in preparation for the fourth joint meeting of the two Councils to be held in Hong Kong in late September. In the evening, Mr Lee will officiate at a reception organised by the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office in support of the Asian Youth Orchestra's Taiwan concert tour.
In the morning of August 20, Mr Lee will visit a cultural facility in Taipei and learn about the latest developments in Taiwan's cultural and creative industries. He will conclude his visit and return to Hong Kong in the afternoon.
The ECCPC and the THEC are the communication platform for Hong Kong and Taiwan to discuss co-operation on public policy matters. Since their inception, the Councils have held three joint meetings and a number of mutual visits, and agreed on taking forward various priority co-operation areas on the economic and trade, cultural, tourism and social fronts.
