In response to a newspaper report relating to the development of Nansha and Hengqin today (March 17), a government spokesman gives the following response:
First, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government will not implement Hong Kong laws in Nansha or Hengqin;
Second, the HKSAR Government has no plan to lease or rent land in Nansha or Hengqin; and
Third, since the establishment of Consultative Committee on Economic and Trade Co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland in October last year, the HKSAR Government has not put forth any idea or proposal to the committee about the development of Nansha or Hengqin.
