In response to media enquiries today (March 17) relating to the development of Nansha and Hengqin, a Government spokesman gives the following response :
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government has once produced a document on Hong Kong's co-operation with the Pearl River Delta (PRD) for internal discussion. After deliberation, most of the ideas were found not practicable, including the leasing or renting of land and implementation of Hong Kong laws in the PRD. Accordingly, the HKSAR Government has not put forward any proposals or ideas for developing Nansha, Hengqin or any other PRD cities to the Consultative Committee on Economic and Trade Co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland since its establishment in October last year.
