Report on HKSAR submitted to UN under International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination available to public

The Third Report of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) is now available online.

"The report sets out the progress of the implementation of the ICERD in the HKSAR since the HKSAR's submission of the previous report to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in June 2008. It also responds to the concluding observations of the Committee after its hearing on the previous report in August 2009," a Government spokesman said today (April 3).

"In preparing the report, the Government took into account the comments and views received from Legislative Council (LegCo) Members and members of the community during the public consultation on the proposed outline of the report from October to November 2015," he said.

In line with established practice, the report will be examined by the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination at a future hearing, the exact date of which is to be fixed.

The report will be made available to stakeholders, including LegCo Members; members of the Human Rights Forum, the Children's Rights Forum, the Ethnic Minorities Forum and the Committee on the Promotion of Racial Harmony; and relevant non-government organisations.

The full text of the report, in Chinese and English, is available on the website of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau (www.cmab.gov.hk/en/press/reports_human.htm).

Copies of the report will also be available at the Public Enquiry Service Centres of District Offices.
