SCMA visits Nansha |
The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Patrick Nip, visited Nansha today (March 19) to see for himself the latest developments and operation of technology enterprises there. He also met with Nansha government representatives to exchange views on strengthening co-operation between the two places. On arrival in the morning, Mr Nip visited Nansha Port and Nansha's Guangdong-Hong Kong In-depth Co-operation Zone to learn more about the port operation and the planning and infrastructure development of the Co-operation Zone. Mr Nip then met with Member of the Standing Committee, Communist Party of China (CPC) Guangzhou Committee, and Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Nansha District Committee, Mr Cai Chaolin, to exchange views on Nansha's latest developments and complementary co-operation between the two places. In the afternoon, Mr Nip toured a local enterprise specialised in unmanned driving system and took a test ride in an auto-pilot car to get first-hand experience of the application of artificial intelligence. He also visited an information technology company and was briefed on the application of face recognition and other high-end technologies. During the visits, Mr Nip exchanged views with representatives of the enterprises to explore co-operation opportunities between Hong Kong and Nansha in the innovation and technology industry. Afterwards, Mr Nip visited the Nansha Qingsheng high-speed rail station, one of the stops of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL). Upon the commissioning of the Hong Kong Section of the XRL, connectivity between Hong Kong and Nansha will be further enhanced, thereby facilitating the flow of people and goods between the two places.
