Reports of CE and Task Force published |
The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, submitted a report to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPCSC) today (April 15). It contains a request to the NPCSC to determine whether the methods for selecting the Chief Executive in 2007 and for forming the Legislative Council in 2008 may be amended.
The Chief Executive has also received the Second Report by the Constitutional Development Task Force which sets outs the views of the Task Force on the issues of principle in the Basic Law relating to Hong Kong's constitutional development after taking account of public views gathered in the past two months or so. Copies of the two reports are available for collection by the public at the Public Enquiry Service Centres (PESCs) of the 18 District Offices (which will extend opening hours to 7pm today). The public may also access the reports on the constitutional development website (www.cab-review.gov.hk). The submissions by different sectors of the community, and the summaries of views of organisations and individuals met by the Task Force relating to the issues of principle are attached to the Second Report as annexes. The annexes have been posted on the constitutional development website. Copies are also placed at the PESCs for public inspection. Ends/Thursday, April 15, 2004 |
