SCA to visit Mainland today |
At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, will lead a delegation to visit the Mainland from January 19 to 24, 2005.
While in Beijing, Mr Lam will meet officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and other relevant departments of the Central Authorities. He will also visit Nanjing and meet officials there. A spokesman for the Constitutional Affairs Bureau today (January 19) said that the visit would be conducted under the established arrangement of reciprocal visits between the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation will depart Hong Kong this evening and return to Hong Kong on Monday afternoon. Since 1999, officials from the HKSAR Government and those from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been conducting reciprocal visits once a year to enhance communication and mutual understanding, the spokesman added.
