Constitutional development public consultation reports published |
The Chief Executive today (December 12) submitted to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress his "Report on Public Consultation on Constitutional Development and on whether there is a need to amend the methods for selecting the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and for forming the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2012" and the "Report on Public Consultation on Green Paper on Constitutional Development". The "Report on Public Consultation on Green Paper on Constitutional Development" summarises the views received during the three-month public consultation exercise which ended on October 10 on the models, roadmap and timetable for implementing universal suffrage for the Chief Executive and the Legislative Council. Copies of both reports are available at the Public Enquiry Service Centres of the District Offices. The reports have also been uploaded onto the website for the Green Paper on Constitutional Development of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau (www.cmab-gpcd.gov.hk). The full range of public submissions in response to the Green Paper, including those by Legco members, political parties, organisations and individuals as well as the meeting notes of the 18 District Councils and opinion polls conducted by academic, non-governmental and media organisations on the subject are published in the appendices to the report. The public may browse through the appendices on the website. Ends/Wednesday, December 12, 2007
