Report on elimination of racial discrimination available to public |
Hong Kong's report under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination is now available online and from the Home Affairs Department's Public Enquiry Service Centres. The report is part of China's report submitted earlier to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. A Government spokesman said, "The report sets out the progress of the implementation of the Convention in Hong Kong since the hearing by the Committee on Hong Kong's last report in mid-2001. It also responds to the concerns and recommendations of the Committee at the hearing. "The report has taken into account the comments and views received from Legislative Council members and members of the community during public consultations conducted by the Government in January 2007. "There will be a hearing on the report by the Committee scheduled for August 2009," the spokesman added. The full text of the report, in Chinese and English, is available on the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau's website (www.cmab.gov.hk/en/press/reports_human.htm). Copies of the report will also be available at the Home Affairs Department's Public Enquiry Service Centres. Ends/Friday, October 3, 2008 |
