Public forums to collect public views on prisoners' voting right |
The Government has published the Consultation Document on Prisoners' Voting Right to seek the public's views on the policy options for the relaxation of the ban on prisoners' voting right and the practical arrangements for prisoners and remanded unconvicted persons to vote. The consultation period will end on March 23, 2009. The Government will organise two public forums. Members of the public are welcome to attend. Details of the public forums are as follows:
First Public Forum
Second Public Forum Both forums will be conducted in Cantonese. Simultaneous interpretation in English will be available. Members of the public who are interested may register, during office hours, through the Home Affairs Department hotline on 2893 9027 until the day before the respective forums. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis. The consultation document can be obtained from District Offices or downloaded from the website of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau at (www.cmab.gov.hk). Ends/Friday, February 27, 2009 |
