Government committed to promoting racial harmony |
In response to media enquiries, a Government spokesman today (April 5) said the following: “The Government understands the concerns of the Filipino community over a recent article as racial harmony is very important. “The Government is committed to promoting racial harmony and eliminating discrimination on the ground of race. The Race Discrimination Ordinance, which was enacted in 2008, is expected to be fully implemented around mid 2009. This represents a major step forward on our commitment. “We hope that all members of the community would work together in enhancing racial harmony and racial equality in Hong Kong.” Ends/Sunday, April 5, 2009 |
