A roving exhibition on rebuilding efforts by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in earthquake-stricken areas of Sichuan opened today (December 8) at Youth Square in Chai Wan. Welcoming the exhibition, the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, stressed the importance of the contributions made by the Hong Kong community toward reconstruction efforts. "Out of the despair, loss and hopelessness has come a spirit of unity and determination which has drawn our communities closer together and helped to rebuild Sichuan," the Chief Executive said. Mr Tsang said he hopes that exhibition visitors will learn more about the enormous scale of the rebuilding process and feel proud of Hong Kong's efforts. The "Sichuan Rebuild - HKSAR Projects" exhibition contains video, photo and text displays of Hong Kong's reconstruction efforts in five main areas, namely, education, infrastructure, medical services, social welfare and the Wolong Nature Reserve. Rebuilding projects by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and non-governmental organisations are also included. Altogether, the HKSAR has committed about $10 billion to fund 191 projects in Sichuan. Admission to the exhibition is free. The dates and venues of the exhibition are as follows:
