SCMA visits Taichung |
At the invitation of the Taichung City Government, the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, will visit Taichung City from tomorrow to Saturday (February 2 to 4) via Taipei, to attend the opening ceremony of the 2012 Taichung Lantern Festival and to officiate at the lighting ceremony of the Hong Kong Lantern Area organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. To promote Hong Kong's culture and tourism and strengthen the friendship between Hong Kong and Taichung, the HKSAR Government will participate in the 2012 Taichung Lantern Festival by arranging for Hong Kong artists to perform at the ceremony and displaying golden dragon Lunar New Year lanterns. Before his departure Mr Tam said, "With the commencement of operation of the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office in Taiwan since the end of last year, we hope to further facilitate exchanges and interaction between Hong Kong and various counties and cities in Taiwan, and to strengthen the promotion of Hong Kong's culture and tourism." Mr Tam will return to Hong Kong on Saturday afternoon (February 4). During his absence from Hong Kong, the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Miss Adeline Wong, will be the Acting Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.
