Report on Hong Kong submitted under Convention on the Rights of the Child available |
The second report of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is now available online. "The report sets out the progress of the implementation of the UNCRC in the HKSAR since the HKSAR's submission of the previous report to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child in June 2003. It also responds to the concluding observations of the Committee after its hearing on the previous report in September 2005," a Government spokesman said today (May 24). "In preparing the report, the Government has taken into account the comments and views received from Legislative Council (LegCo) Members and members of the community during the public consultation on the proposed outline of the report," he said. In line with established practice, the report will be examined by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child in a future hearing, the date of which is to be fixed. The report will be made available to stakeholders, including LegCo Members, members of the Human Rights Forum and Children's Rights Forum, and relevant non-government organisations. The full text of the report, in Chinese and English, is available on the website of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau (www.cmab.gov.hk/en/press/reports_human.htm). Copies of the report are available at the Public Enquiry Service Centres of District Offices. Ends/Thursday, May 24, 2012 |
