     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, began his five-day visit to Shanghai, Jinan and Beijing today (April 19) to strengthen ties with the relevant provincial and municipal governments and promote exchanges and co-operation with them.

     Upon his arrival in Shanghai this afternoon, he visited the show suite of a large-scale development project to better understand its planning and construction progress. Hong Kong, Mainland and American businessmen have invested in the project, comprising elements such as business, leisure, culture and entertainment.

     In the evening, Mr Tam met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Mr Yu Beihua, to exchange views on mutual co-operation and the latest developments of the two places.

     Mr Tam will meet with Hong Kong people working in Shanghai tonight to understand more about their life there.

     He will visit Shanghai Disney Resort tomorrow before departing for Jinan, where he will meet with Hong Kong businessmen in Shandong Province.
