Shaanxi Liaison Unit commences operation |
The Shaanxi Liaison Unit (SNLU) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) came into operation today (April 17) with the aim of assisting Hong Kong people and enterprises to better capitalise on the opportunities brought about by the development of the western region on the Mainland. Located in Xi’an, the capital city of Shaanxi Province, the SNLU has been set up under the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Chengdu (CDETO) of the HKSARG. Director of CDETO, Miss Pamela Lam, said, "The SNLU will work towards strengthening relations between Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Shaanxi Province as well as its municipalities by enhancing government-to-government co-operation. It will also promote exchange and co-operation between HKSAR and the relevant province and municipalities on economic, trade and cultural fronts, as well as provide support to Hong Kong residents and enterprises in the area." The Chief Executive announced in his 2017 Policy Address that a liaison unit would be set up in Shaanxi Province before the middle of this year. The CDETO has been working closely with the relevant authorities of Shaanxi Province and Xi’an Municipality to make preparations for the setting up of the SNLU. The SNLU is initially operating from a temporary office so as to commence services as early as possible. The temporary office is located at Rooms 1103-18, Capita Mall, No.64 West Section of South 2nd Ring Road, Yanta District, Xi'an, Shaanxi (Postal code: 710065, Tel: (+86 29) 8720 4883; email: snlu@cdeto.gov.hk).
