The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Patrick Nip (second right), today (August 17) conducted a video conference with colleagues of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government's offices in the Mainland and Taiwan to get an up-to-date briefing on the offices' work and their work plans for the coming year. Mr Nip said he hoped that the offices and their related liaison offices would enhance communication and liaison with the relevant central ministries as well as provincial and municipal authorities on various Mainland-related issues, including the development plan for a city cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area, the Belt and Road Initiative, regional co-operation and facilitation measures for Hong Kong people, so that Hong Kong can have a better grasp of the related development opportunities and contribute to the country's developments. Mr Nip also thanked colleagues for their effort in organising activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, and encouraged them to continue to play a "middle man" role to enable people in the Mainland and Taiwan to have a better understanding of Hong Kong. Also joining the meeting were the Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Roy Tang (left), and the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Andy Chan (right). |
