Ag CS officiates at youth exchange programme's flag presentation (with photo)

The Acting Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Stephen Lam, today (July 24) officiated at the flag presentation ceremony of a youth exchange programme for a train tour to Beijing and Ningxia. Some 300 students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait took part in the ceremony held at the Education Bureau, Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre. Mr Lam commended the various youth organisations for arranging this meaningful exchange programme so that young people from the Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao could better understand the country and latest developments through study trips. Mr Lam referred in particular to the development of Hong Kong-Taiwan relations in recent years, including the establishment respectively of the "Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council" and the "Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation Council" in Hong Kong and Taiwan this year as a new platform to foster exchanges. The signing of the cross-strait "Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement" (ECFA) last month, was also expected to give impetus to and open up opportunities for economic development in the entire region, he added.
